Government of India has taken the innovative measures to locate and contact trace by launching Aarogya Setu App to curb COVID-19 pandemic.

Aarogya Setu is a mobile application developed by government of India to connect essential health services with the people of India to fight against COVID-19.

The App is aimed at augmenting the initiatives of the Government Of India, in proactively reaching out to and informing the users of the App regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19 pandemic.

World Bank praises India's Aarogya Setu App 

World Bank released report on Sunday praising India's Aarogya Setu App which helps significantly in contact tracing and curbing the spread of dreaded CoronaVirus pandemic. 
Referring the example of the App, a World Bank report released on Sunday said, innovative solutions could greatly help, educate and track contagion across the populations at large. 
"Digital technologies can also be used to monitor the spread of COVID-19. Such initiatives, largely voluntary, have been successful in helping combat the pandemic in East Asia. Incentives can also be provided to those who report symptoms. 
India recently launched an App, Aarogya Setu, that uses location data from persons smartphones to tell users if they have been near someone who tested positive for COVID-19,"said the South Economic Focus report of the World Bank. 

App is fully safe in regard to privacy Concerns

"Privacy concerns can be dealt with by legislative sunset clauses on tracking systems. The region houses many poor and uneducated households that are nevertheless tech-savvy, and the innovative solutions technology could greatly help educate and track contagion across the populations at large, " the report said. 

The government is trying best to make it popular by promoting it on social media and messages on television & mobile phones.Explaining about the precautions taken to maintain the privacy of user.

The three features to preserve privacy are as follows:

1. Personal identification will be de-identified , so that it will not show personal information of any infected person near you .

2. Aarogya Setu App will save your location information and people you are in contact. It will only send information to NIC server when you are in contact with infected person or your probability of getting infected is high.

3. It will clean the unwanted data at an interval on both, your phone and NIC server.

Niti Aayog CEO,  Amitabh Kant said, Aarogya Setu is a world class app aimed at helping curb the spread of COVID-19 disease. He took to the twitter and wrote by tagging Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. 

"India leads the way in contact tracing for COVID-19: privacy first by design, secure, robust and scalable to billion users. Glad to see Apple and Google joining hands to develop contact tracing on the lines of Aarogya Setu. "

Days after the launch of the App, global tech majors Apple and Google said on Saturday that they were building a software into smartphones that would help in contact tracing and inform users whether they were in touch with COVID-19 infected persons.
